Daniel Mark
Daniel Mark is currently the Co-Director of Marching Percussion for Kutztown
University’s Marching Unit where he arranges the front ensemble music and
instructs the ensemble. Daniel has been involved with music for over 19 years as
an educator, performer, arranger, composer, and consultant specializing in the area of percussion. He studied percussion at college under the direction of Dr. Frank Kumor and Dr. Will Rapp, received both his B.A. in Music and B.S. in Elementary Education from Kutztown University, and also holds a Master’s
degree in Media Technology from Wilkes University.
Daniel has studied 6 mallet marimba with Kai Stensgaard which allowed him to
perform the World Premier of "Concerto Mexicano" for orchestra and solo
marimba, has performed in the International Percussion Festival in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and accompanied Dr. Frank Kumor to the Patagonia International
Percussion Festival in Argentina, where the pair performed a program that
received positive reviews in the regional press. In 2017, he performed the United
States Premier performance of “Zocalo Mexico” a concerto for concert band and
solo marimba. For fun, Daniel has played percussion for numerous musicals,
was the drum set player for Pines Dinner Theater for 5 years and was also a
performer at Hershey Park for 4 summers as the drummer in a strolling band.
For the past several years, Daniel has been a percussion instructor and arranger
for various high schools in North and South East Pennsylvania. Daniel most
recently was the Director of Percussion for Hempfield High School in Lancaster
County. In 2015 he led the group to a Tournament Indoor Association Atlantic
Coast Championship in Percussion Scholastic A, and in 2016 took the group to
WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. The ensemble was a sem-finalist
and ranked 26th in the World for Scholastic A Percussion. Currently he is part of the
instructional team for Lancaster Bible College's Total Percussion Seminar.
Daniel is presently a STEM teacher in the Brandywine Heights School District
and a freelance performer, educator, and arranger in percussion. Daniel is a
regular sub at Pines Dinner Theater where he plays drum set and percussion for
a variety of different musical theater shows.
