Kutztown University Marching Unit presents their 2024 production "Do Not Go Gentle.” Prepare for a thrilling journey through chaos and order, inspired by the timeless poem "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night" by Dylan Thomas. Featuring the music of Julie Giroux, Five Finger Death Punch, Hans Zimmer, and Gustav Mahler, "Do Not Go Gentle" promises a melodic journey that spans genres and eras while blending contemporary intensity with classical elegance. We proudly present to you our 2020 production of "Wavin' Flag" by K'Naan! This determinedly optimistic and downright catchy toe-tapper embodies the positivity and encouragement that we wanted to spread throughout campus! From outdoor-only rehearsals, social distancing, and mask wearing to careful equipment handing and truck loading, the resilient students and staff of KUMU embraced many new safety guidelines and precautions as the new norm in 2020. This performance, for instance, was shot in short segments over the course of an hour with breaks to clear the field and allow the air to settle. Many would ask, "why?" Why go through all the trouble just for a couple online virtual performances? It comes down to one word. Passion. Every member of KUMU made a choice to be a part of the family and continue our tradition of excellence! While it may not have been the season everyone asked for, it was surely memorable and special in it's own way. As the entire KU Community approaches the end of the Fall 2020 Semester, the members of the KU Marching Unit family would like to send you into finals week with some words and sounds of encouragement! The 2020 year has been the most unique and challenging for our KU community as a whole. The anxiety and frustrations all of us have faced are real. Through it all though, we chose to “Fight On”, to “Be Golden”, “Stay Focused”, and “Be Optimistic.” We look forward to seeing all of you back on campus in spring whether it is physically or virtually.
